Youth and Family Support Worker

Job summary

You will work alongside a Practice Leader, Practitioner and a Systemic Practitioner, who will help embed systemic and therapeutic concepts into the work of the unit. Together, you will look at barriers and issues within children and families’ lives, their strengths and needs, set goals and help develop and deliver bespoke, creative, and evidence-based interventions drawn from collaborative assessments; utilising the extensive and wide-ranging experience from across the unit.

Required Qualifications and Skills

You will have: Experience of delivering evidence-based individual and group interventions to children, young people and/or adults. Ability to carry out practical support with children, young people and families, maintaining a positive perspective and demonstrating tenacity, persistence and compassion and using it as a vehicle to create sustainable change Ability and experience of building trusting, honest, supportive, and outcome-focused relationships with Children and families whilst maintaining professional boundaries.

Required Experience

As a Youth & Family Support Worker, you will be working in Royal Greenwich secondary schools, supporting our children and their families.  You must be able to develop supportive and highly-effective relationships with children and their families.

Responsibility

The Youth & Family Support Worker role is a varied one and as well as the delivery of impactful and relational practice, will also include providing support to primary and secondary schools through consultation, role-modelling and the delivery of professional development centred around our ‘Practice Framework’, which is rooted in Systemic Practice and Compassion Focussed approaches, and is adopted across Children’s Services in Royal Greenwich.  You will be responsible for delivering direct work and interventions, including practical support, that is child and family centred, ensuring that families have the right services around them to meet their needs and brings lasting positive change. You will be well supported by a Practice Leader and the unit’s dedicated Practitioner who will both provide you with direction and support.
