Job summary

HomeBridge Youth Society offers an interdisciplinary approach to youth care comprising of five facilities around the metro area as well as Bridges for Learning, an accredited school program. Youth between the ages of 12 and 18 experience therapeutic interventions, support, and opportunities with a focus on evidence-based approaches to stabilization, education and life skills. The youth in our care may experience themselves differently given an opportunity to thrive with the support of Youth Care Workers, an Occupational Therapist, Recreation Therapist, Pediatrician, Art Therapist, Music Therapist and other support people. Required Qualifications and Skills

Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in the Social Science field OR possess a Diploma in Child and Youth Care or Social Services or other related field A combination of experience, training and education in an alternate field may be considered Experience working in the field of Child & Youth, specifically with children and youth with complex mental health and/or addictions is preferred Working understanding of current Youth Care Practices Awesome inter-personal, communication and organizational skills An ability to connect with young people who are resistant to developing relationships Teamwork and a desire to have fun at work Open and willing to work shift work, including overnights, weekends and holidays Valid certification in First Aid/CPR, (ASIST) Suicide Intervention, NVCI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Mental Health First Aid are considered assets

Required Experience

Experience working with young people who may be experiencing marginalization. This can include paid or volunteer work with Boys and Girls Clubs, local recreation Centers, Summer camps and other youth-serving organizations.

Responsibility

Provide day to day support and care to youth ages 12-18 years of age who are living away from home for a variety of reasons. Many of these young people have experienced a significant amount of trauma in their past and require honest, genuine, caring adults to surround them. Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing support and teaching through daily life events, facilitating communication and mediation in interpersonal interactions, cooking meals, household cleaning, playing video games, watching movies, tutoring, communicating with external professionals, report and log writing, accompanying youth on community outings and most importantly being a non-judgmental active listener.

Compensation and Benefits Offered
